Modern Foreign Languages

The study of Languages prepares pupils to participate in a rapidly changing world where many businesses and activities are carried out in languages other than English. We live in a multicultural society and the learning of modern foreign languages should enable children to effectively use other languages and to access other ideas and experiences from a wide range of people, communities and cultures. The process of learning another language also improves children’s knowledge of their first language including grammar, syntax, fluency and sentence structure. Learning another language also strengthens children’s sense of identity by allowing them to compare their own culture and community to those of others around the world.
