Our topic this term is Vikings. We will be looking at where the Vikings came from, why they wanted to ‘invade’, how they built and travelled on longboats, if they were always ‘vicious Vikings’ and Viking home life. This links into our Power of Reading book, ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’, which features Viking gods, tales and myths.
Homework will be set and sent home every Friday. Homework is due in on the following Thursday, giving children 6 days to complete this.
Weekly homework consists of:
- 10 spellings to look, cover, write, check.
- 10 – 20 Timestables questions to practice.
- A short piece of Maths OR English work (alternating each week).
Children are expected to read every evening. It is recommended that children read with an adult for at least ten minutes. Please can reading records be signed as often as possible. I understand this may not be possible every evening but reading frequently at home will hugely benefit your child in school.
Any issues with homework tasks, please let me know and I can help complete this in school.
There will also be two - three ‘projects’ throughout the year, likely to be a practical task to be completed over a holiday period.
P.E. lessons will take place every Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has a P.E. kit in school Monday – Friday as these days may vary.
If you have any questions or concerns, please come and speak to me on the playground or we can arrange a time to meet.
