This spring term we will be studying the exciting topic Ancient Egypt. Please share any books or information you may have about Egypt with the pupils. This is an interesting topic and I look forward to finding out about pharaohs, pyramids and artefacts with the children.
In literacy our writing will be strongly linked to in-depth reading of a class book. We will be bringing reading alive with many exciting learning lessons based on the text. This term pupils will be focusing on improving their cursive handwriting and producing clearly written work.
In maths there will be a continued focus on remembering timetable facts. We will cover multiplication and division methods. Later in the term we will be moving onto fractions and decimals. Any opportunity to share ‘real life’ maths with your child will be beneficial, e.g. discussing cost and amounts of grocery shopping, talking about measuring quantities in cooking. In science we will be learning all about sound and electricity. We will investigate these topics experimentally and through research. PE will be on a Thursday so please ensure full PE kit is in school.
There will be forest school sessions every Thursday afternoon until half term, please provide warm waterproof clothing for your child.
Homework will be given out on Friday and expected to be handed in the following Friday. Spellings and timetables will be tested weekly. There may be other pieces of homework for maths, literacy, science or topic to support their learning in class. Reading books go home daily and children are expected to read frequently to improve their understanding and fluency. Please come and have a chat if you have any queries, before or after school or make an appointment with the school office.
