26th April

Welcome back to the summer term, hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday.

This week in English we have been working on full stops, question marks and capital letters using a story called 'Whistleless'. We have also beenĀ  changing nouns from singular to plural by adding 's' or 'es'.

In phonics we have been recapping the 'gangs of three' - triple consonants at the beginning of a word - scr, shr, str, spr, spl, thr. We have also reminded ourselves of the phonemes 'th', 'ch', 'sh', 'wh' and 'ph'.

In maths we have been working on capacity.

In PE we had a go at high jump with Mr Calver from 'Little Kickers'.

On Wednesday afternoon we visited Wickham Market library with the Year 4/5 class, where we met Lisa the Library Manager and had the chance to share lots of books and stories. We will be visiting the library each Wednesday afternoon for this half term (except when we are at Colchester castle!) so if the children already have a library card (or if you go along and register them to get one) they can bring their library card and then will be able to choose a book to borrow.

Next Thursday afternoon the children will be doing Forest School with Ms Denny.

Our topic for the summer term is 'Castles'.
