Design and Technology
Computing is a scientific area of study having deep links with mathematics and design technology and provides insight into both natural and artificial systems. The teaching of Computing at Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) develops an understanding and knowledge of the vast technological world we live in.
The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content.
We aim to integrate Computing throughout the curriculum as an aid to support and enhance learning as well as teaching specific skills discreetly when necessary. Children will learn that the effective use of all forms of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) is a vital skill needed in today’s society and will become digitally literate in order to manipulate at a level that is suitable for their future workplace and allowing them to be active in their use of this in a digital world.
