week beginning 19th Feb

I hope you all had a lovely, restful half term.

This week in maths we have continued to work on shape, learning about 2D shape and also doing some work on pattern. In Art we printed with shapes to make repeating patterns.

In phonics we have been learning all the different ways to make the 's' sound, 's' sun, 'ss' dress, 'se' house, 'ce' dance, 'sc' scissors, 'st' whistle, 'ce' centipede, 'ci' circle, 'cy' cycle.

In grammar we have been learning about verbs or 'doing words'.

We have been doing some exercises to hopefully help to improve listening skills, which are obviously essential in school!

We listened and wrote about the Aesop's Fable, The Tortoise and the Hare and discussed the moral behind the story.

On Tuesday afternoon we went outside to meet 2 farmers who had brought along their tractor for us to look at, the children were very interested and asked lots of questions, the visit was part of the 'Tractors in Schools' project. I have sent some photos in to the newspaper, which hopefully they might print!

We have been having a go at our 'fitter future' workouts, they are proving quite challenging!
