week beginning 11th September

We loved the 'Bubble Assembly' on Monday with Steff the Bubbleologist. We weren't quite as successful at blowing bubbles ourselves in the afternoon, but it was VERY windy.                                                  We watched a film clip about a little girl who found a pot of magic bubbles, then the children wrote about where they would like to go and what they might see on their own magic bubble.                                In science we investigated whether washing up liquid or hand soap produced the most bubbles, we didn't really come to a definite conclusion but had great fun anyway!

Continuing with our 'bicycle' theme, we listened to and wrote about a story called 'Mrs Armitage on Wheels.'  In our history lesson we found out that the first bicycles were called 'Boneshakers'. In maths we have continued to work on accurate counting and number formation. In phonics we are working on Stage 4, we are revising and consolidating all phonemes covered in Reception and using them to read and write longer words. The children have brought home their homework books - I have put some sheets in the front of the book which I thought you might find useful for reference. This weeks spellings are ones that I have picked up as being commonly misspelled in the children's written work this week. The 'spelling menu' is there to give you a range of different suggestions to help your child to practise their spellings
